Terms of Service

Effective September 25, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Airmass Wx ("Airmass Wx", "we", "us") covering your use of the Airmass Wx website and app (the "Service"). By using the Service or creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Aviation safety: not an official briefing

Airmass Wx is a planning aid, not an official weather briefing. Its maps, soundings, thermal, cloud, wind, wave, ridge-lift and flight-distance products are automated computer model output. They are often wrong, they can be out of date, and they have not been reviewed by a meteorologist.

Soaring, hang gliding and paragliding carry a risk of serious injury and death. You, as pilot in command, are solely responsible for deciding whether and how to fly. Before every flight get an official weather briefing (in the US, from 1800wxbrief.com or 1-800-WX-BRIEF), check NOTAMs and TFRs, and use current official charts. Airspace shown in the Service is for reference only and is not a substitute for current aeronautical charts.

Never rely on Airmass Wx as your only source of weather or airspace information.

2. Accounts

3. Free and Pro plans

The free plan includes a 12-hour forecast. Pro is a paid subscription that adds the full multi-day forecast, extra models and layers and the other features listed in the app. Features may change as we improve the Service.

4. Subscriptions, free trial and renewal

5. Refunds

6. Acceptable use

Don't:

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. If we close a paid account for no fault of yours, we'll refund the unused part of your subscription.

7. Data sources and ownership

Forecasts are computed from public weather model data including NOAA HRRR and GFS, ECMWF IFS (Copyright © 2026 European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), source www.ecmwf.int, CC BY 4.0, changed by our computations; ECMWF accepts no liability for the data or their use) and DWD ICON (ICON data: Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD), via Open-Meteo, CC BY 4.0). Radar, satellite, observations, warnings and airspace come from NOAA/NWS, the Iowa Environmental Mesonet, CIRA SLIDER (Colorado State University), the FAA and other providers named in the app, and base maps from the providers credited on the map. The Airmass Wx software, design and derived products belong to us. Your settings, uploaded waypoints and flight tracks stay yours. Waypoint and track files are read in your browser and aren't uploaded to us.

8. No warranty

The Service and all forecasts are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be accurate, current, uninterrupted or error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Airmass Wx and its operator are not liable for any personal injury, death, property or aircraft damage, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service or any forecast, even if told such damage was possible. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50, whichever is greater.

Some places don't allow some of these limits. In those places they apply only as far as the law allows.

10. Indemnity

You agree to cover any claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) brought against us by others that arise from your flying, your misuse of the Service or your breach of these terms.

11. Changes and ending the Service

We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and continuing to use the Service after that means you accept it. We may change or discontinue the Service. If we shut down Pro, we'll refund the unused part of any paid period.

12. General

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the U.S. state where Airmass Wx's operator lives, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
